Default Any way to test the front wiper motor to see if it works?

I'm trying to get my 83 944 that's been sitting for years back to running condition. One of the problems I'm having is that the front windshield wipers don't work. I've checked the fuse and it fine. Is there anyway I can test to see if the motor even works?

find the wires connecting to the motor under the cowl, apply 12v.

alternatively, pull off the steering wheel and make sure the wiper switch is even plugged in. there are a few things behind the wheel that maybe someone forgot to put back one day.

Grab your test light and check for power and ground at the wiper motor. Pin six/brown wire is your ground and your power varies on your wiper switch position.

out at the track back in 2005 it started to rain and my wipers failed to work. So I ran a wire from the battery to the motor directly and it worked. So to save time I just installed simple toggle switch in the car and bypassed the factory wiring. Not ideal for street car, but not bad for a race car.

maybe not ideal, but as usual quick thinking saves the day

When you are at the track you need to do quick thinking. I last even I broke the hood latch. I did not have spare at the track and not time to get on before qualifying. So out comes the tape. I taped down the hood before qualfiying and missed zero track time.

Thanks. I was able to find out there was power at the harness connector to the motor. I pulled the motor apart and it was rusted in there. Looks like I'll be trying to clean it out. Thanks again.

Got my wiper motor running by following that thread. Thanks! It was really rusted when I took it apart.

How did you do this? The harness going to the wiper motor is several wires, I assume one per wiper setting.

If I have a single wire coming from the battery, do I just connect it to whichever wire corresponds to the wiper setting I want?

I don't need to have the full range of wiper settings by this weekend, just the fastest one in case it rains while I'm on a road trip this weekend.
