Track alignment
I have a '83 944 that I want to track. What is the recommended alignment?
I remember when I had a 944 way back, that Porsche had to raise the rear of the car to pass import criteria. If I recall, there is a bolt in the rear, that once removed (or moved) it drops 1-2"...am I correct with my memory??
Thanks

You are thinking of the eccentric adjustment. Yes, you can lower the car with it but it may only be as much as .75" depending on your current ride height.
My 83 alignment:
-2.5 degrees front camber
zero toe front
2.0 degrees caster
-1.5 degrees rear camber
-.15 toe rear
I use this setup for track but I still street it. I like the alignment a lot but I plan on going to a slightly more aggressive rear setting after a few suspension changes.

I'm doing the same thing and asked these questions a while back. Read this in regards to leveling the car:
http://www.924.org/techsection/Suspe...reparation.htm
After that, the overall opinion on Rennlist was to be conservative on adding negative camber and negative toe to both ends, track the car and adjust to suit your driving style and the car itself.
Good luck this year!
