Default ECU & DME ground points

I was cleaning my grounds this evening and I found all the ground points except the dme/ecu grounds that are supposed to be just in front of the fuse box. I have a late 85 944 does anyone know where the ground points ate? Pics if possible?

Thank you.

Most are here.

Really clean the battery connections. Wire brush the inside of the lead connector.

The big negative gound is most important. Tape the bell housing TDC hole to avoid dropping a nut in the clutch

You should also clean all the harness connections on the top of the engine.

II is the multipoint ground up under the dash above the relay and fuses.
III---I think is under the hood on top of the fender by the non used test port.

it is - i know where they all are after doing this myself several months ago after trying to track down electrical gremlins after my MAF install. It's pretty obvious once you see it. Just look for the DME test port and then start your eyes working back towards the fender of the car - it's right on top...green wire I think.

There is a threaded post in the top right with no wires on it... it looks like it was painted over when the PO had a real cheap respray done. Thats the only place it seems like would have been used for a ground point.

also those wires... were loose like that, I have no idea what they are for they come out of the wire bundle that goes into the black box in the top left...

I'm looking at the wiring diagram in my chiltons... but its not all that helpful

The ground point t3rra is referring to is for the brake pad wear sensors.

I feel like this thread of mine should just be stickied, or someone with too much time on there hands should make a FAQ thread that should be stickied.. .

I am fairly certain the only grounding lug for the DME is on the engine block. I know this because a buddy of mine fried his ECU by not having that ground connected.

Points II and III are under the dash by the fuse block. The thread i posted has pictures of them.

Thank you for the link, the pictures were really helpful. I'll hit the rest of the ground points tomorrow
