Post 944 is really a vw/audi, not a real porsche!

I am sorry to inform you this/please do not get upset. I have to be realistic and honest, 944 is the most unreliable and unworthy car that I HAVE EVER owned in my life. Oil leaks, coolent leaks, tranny leaks, p/s leaks, water leaks on roof, etc (even when i bought it new).

944, as you all know, started out as a vw 924 (a horrible car), and until the end, it was built by audi in audi plant and has many audi/vw parts.

my 944 from day one was trouble. Everything went wrong with the car. Maybe the car was just an exception. Who knows, but my 944 was a junk! A lemon!

Many of you talk about how great these 944's are. But remember for the same price of a used 944, you can get more faster/reliable japanese cars such as eclipse, rx7, mr2, supra, 300zx, etc. you can also get good ol american v8's such as mustang gt and z28 cameros/firebirds. and these are alot more reliable and cost less to maintain then the vw/audi 944. Some of you say that these rice cars have no "charactor", well go drive a 1990 300zx turbo or 1991 eclipse turbo and see how fast they can blow your doors off. same with american muscle cars.

only good thing about owning a 944 is it has a "porsche" tag on it. But its not a real porsche, just like 914 was never a real porsche. 944/s2/turbo is just poser with a porsche tag. Or if it is considered a porsche, then its a cheap porsche that was built in audi plant with vw rabbit frond end and other parts.

it is not worthy of a porsche tag. then again, porsche cars are all really low tech vw's.

sorry, just being honest.

ps: i am shopping for a used 1985 to 87 corvette for about the same price you can get a 4 banger 1987-88 vw 944 (about $6500). yeah yeah, all you guys talk about how old tech these american push rods are, but remember these vetts and mustangs and z28's will blow the doors of most vw 944's and cost hell of a lot to maintain and alot more reliable. Yeah..no oil leaks!

NO offense guys! Remember, I still have my 911c4, 1988 944, and 1990 s2, which im selling. Anyone interested?

If you dislike your Porsc...sorry VW so much, why bother to hang around here.Go to some orient-list insteadt BTW most european sold rice-mobiles are made in UK, so what's the big deal about Audi made 944's.I have always considered Audi as a quality product.

When the Asian and American manufacturers can come up with a vehicle that is not inferior to a VW, I'll be impressed. In the meanwhile, the only thing I have trouble with in this post is the stupidity of the writer.

Why even post this?

I know when my father picked out his car that is all we could think about is the tag.

Please

That's great, an 85-87 Vette. I bought an 86 Vette last year and planned on dumping the 944. Both cars in excellent condition but after 2 weeks with the Vette I must say the Vette was a piece of **** compared to the 944. Don't get me wrong, the car was fast as hell but constructed very poorly. Thank god I turned down 2 sweet offers on the 944 and dumped the Vette off on a buddy who wanted it. It now sits in his driveway with a blown motor. Those old Chevy v8's can't handle constant high rpm driving/beating. I can't say that I have experienced any of your 944 problems, other than a plugged radiator, in the last 3 years of ownership. Good riddens and best of luck on your new POS wishes.

The 944 was ahead of it's time pal. No one can believe that my car is an '86. Everyone thinks it's 90's. Supra's , Rx7's in the 80's were crap. They look like crap and are so outdated. The 944 is timeless.

Maybe it's not car problems but rather owner problems. When I used to run tech support, if someone complained of computer problems, I'd say "Have you tried changing the operator." yeah...that was usually the problem.

So what you are saying is you are very bad at routine maintenance?

Actually it was going to be a VW sports car but they balked and Porsche bought the rights to the model back from VW. And I am very happy about that!

Seriously, you are selling an S2 for less than your regular 944. You must be Jerry Seinfeld, yanking our chains on the 944 list.

BAD JERRY> GO BACK TO YOUR EXOTIC PORSCHE COLLECTION AND THE 911 LIST.

You know Rothmans says it best...youare VERY GOOD at routine maintenance.

Why even post this garbage here? Chevy will never be able to compete with Porsche.

Also, I hope you find yourself one hell of a nice 85 vette for $6500! Crossfire injecton ROCKS!!! LMAO..........

Since you like the 1991 Eclipse so much I will trade you my Turbo AWD GSX for the S2. It is red with black cloth and a 5 speed. The trans grinds second gear like they all do but I can either compensate you for that or I can have it repaired if you are willing to trade.

Are you seriously selling your S2 for $3k?
If so, I am very, very interested. Can you give more details?

Funny, you don't mention on the Toyota MR2 in your list of awesome cars. IMO, it and the 944 are two of the best handling cars around. Blows the doors off 300ZX, Supras, Eclipses in the corners. But to each his own...

Oh, and it's not nice to bash a 944 on the 944 board. Use some common sense.
