I looked at a 968 convertible whose top won't go up or down automatically. It seems to function ok manually. Does anyone have experience with repairing this issue and I was wondering what the most likely problems might be and cost involved, etc. Thanks

Could be that someone disconnected the cables that attach to the electric motors. I've read of owners frequently doing this because the mechanism got out of alignment and they didn't want to risk having any of the structure breaking ($$$).

Re-post over on the 968 list and I'm sure you'll get more specific info on how to fix this, if desired.
