0.8 ohm "ballast resistor" needed with Blaster 2 Coil install?
I just finished installing my Blaster 2 Coil where my old Bosch one was. I hooked everything up but haven't started the car yet because I would wake up the neighborhood (see post re: exhaust coming loose).
The only question I have is in the instructions for the MSD coil, it says that I have to install a 0.8 ohm ballast resistor on the positive side to prevent any "personal injury or product failure." What gives? I have heard of many folks with this setup, but never of having a ballast resistor.
BTW, I only have the COIL, not the 6A Ignition.
Thanks,
Matt

You should not need the ballast resistor. I installed just the coil in my car without doing a full ignition upgrade. *I think* (the usual disclaimers apply) that the ballast resistor is for points ignitions to reduce wear during startup. Our cars are not points ignitions so you shouldn't have a problem.
