Default CPR splitter

Hey guys I was looking into getting a CPR V3 splitter, but does any one know if it actually helps, or is it purely cosmetic? Also does anyone have any pictures of one installed on their car? Thanks

Unfortunately the CPR splitters are no longer available.

unless you buy a used one?

I was waiting so bad for the N/A one

but, as far as people that got their hands on one said - it works ... there were even pics of carnage posted, if I'm remembering correctly!

There was data that I think Van did with suspension monitoring equipment. Used sensors to detect the ride height at different speeds with and without the splitter. I also think some testing with this was done on the track. Verified that there was in fact downforce provided with either the V1 or the V3. Either way, if the V1 was effective, then you can bet your boots the V3 will work.

There were other people that had done some track driving and too said that there was a noticeable difference. With the size of the V3, it's hard to see how it wouldn't be effective. Thing's effing huge. The V1 doesn't protrude much, but should work well enough to redirect airflow up into the bumper rather than going under the car. This function alone also helps with front-end downforce.

I have a V1 that I'll be using, but there are some major... M A J O R things I have to take care of. Kinda like having a whole car in one piece. I bought mine because the V3 cost more, and looked like more of a track-only type of unit. I tend to pull up close to parking curbs as it is. I don't want to break 300 dollars worth of plastic while doing it. I think the V1 better suits a street car, for stability at and above highway speeds, and for effecting airflow at the front of the car.

Anyone else think the V3 would make a 944 "nose heavy" without a larger rear spoiler?

AIR makes a decent splitter.
Seems to fit pretty good.

The fitment with the AIR isn't what I would be concerned about, as much as daily damage. Not sure about everyone else, but I actually had an AIR in my hands that needed some repair. After looking it over, and seeing how close to the ground it would be, I decided it would be better not to use something made of fiberglass. On a car that isn't driven around potholes... It would be great.

BTW the Air and the V1 are roughly the same size from what I saw. Just different material and slightly different design.

I've had a few splitters over the years and they all take a beating on a street car, hence rattle can black paint. Repairs are usually easy and spray paint is easy to match.

I would think any splitter would last a little longer on a track car.

jimbo,

If this is for a track car, I think I can help you....I think.

If you can get me the degree pitch from the front of the bumper to the front of the wheel well (estimate is fine.. or 1" difference, 1.25 difference, etc...) I may have something at the shop that will work. It is a flat piece, cut for the shape of a 951, but I beleive it could bolt on the lower of a CGT front and simply use compensating spacers from center right/left and terminating flush at the wells.

Also the measurement from well to well (overall width).

Right now I think they are using it to play cards on

I'll be back for 2 days this weekend then gone again until late May. let me know as soon as you can.

Hope this helps

patrick

if you are interested. I will sell you the one that i have. I purchased it from CPR on 01/16/2010 for a total of $275.00 shipped. I received the splitter 01/29/2010 However, I did not like the looks of the splitter. It did not give my car the aggressive look that I was looking for. Not the sellers (CPR) fault. So I mounted the unit on my car to see if it would grow on me. It did not. Please don't get me wrong, the splitter is a very nice unit. Just not what I was expecting. I did a front end conversion on my car and it is currently at the body shop awaiting a fresh paint job and a splitter that I purchased from another source. Here are a few pic if you are interesting.
