Post Shift ****

The leather on my shifter finally wore through today, what fixes are available or outlets for shift boots? If I use a Momo **** etc., what have others done to bring a shift boot up to it, and still have it look good?

I have a Momo **** on mine. My leather boot was wearing out around the top, and I just folded it down and fastened it to the bottom of the ****. I think it looks ok. But beware with an aftermarket **** your shifter will vibrate quite a bit more than stock, as there's less dampening and weight on the Momo. I don't mind it but some people do.
Here's mine:

Well i don't think a momo **** will fit with out fiddling with the shaft a little bit. But to make the momo know and boot look like one fixture, you flip the shift boot inside (after you cut the top off) out and at the base of the momo **** you can use a fine wire, or something similar and wrap it around the **** and boot. Flip back inside in and there you have the shift **** and boot as one.

Does that make sense?

Or you can use a MOMO shift boot that just screws into the bottom of a MOMO shift ****. I have one in my G20 and it's really slick.

Hi!

I put on a Momo shift **** today and it looks and feels great except for some small vibrations at high rpm´s.

It looks like this, haven´t any pics from my car yet:

When I was at it I also changed the steering wheel to Momo - I choose one that is pretty deep. One reason is to get the steering wheel closer, about 4 centimeters closer to driver. I´ll probably add a 1 cm spacer to get it even closer. Now I´ll probably not engage the wipers by mistake when I´m on the track and don´t have to have my arms hanging to much.

I´ll post pics later.

/A

I am in need of one too, but I want the stock shifter. I see boots by themselves all the time, but you can never get it back to the factory look.

I saw a link a while back that had a new **** and boot assembly as one peice, for $40 IIRC. All you add is your shift pattern thing. I have not been able to find that link for months. Man, I should have bought it then.

Anyone know?

I had the entire shift boot/stalk assembly replaced (burgundy). Looks showroom new, only problem is it seems like theres not enough leather on the shift boot so when you reach for reverse or perhaps fifth and stretch thing sto their zenith, the boot pops out of the console (it just snaps back in). Sort of a pain. I think I got it from Performance Products or something. I need to get it fixed or replaced with one that has more leather. And yes you have to save your shift pattern button.

I also have the silver and black combat ****. Just call performance products (I know I know) but they have a cool little thing that makes it possible to just slide on the **** and not get any rattle. It really works well as I have one on my car and it is great.

I just bought a black AGLA shift boot. It looks great, but I have not yet attempted the installation. Is this gonna be difficult?

I bought the Aftermarket boot for about 60.00. It doesn't look quite as good as the original, but it looks good. They wanted over $400.00 for the original boot and shift **** combo.
