Default 87 944 Reference/speed sensor Location Help..

Trying locate reference sensor on 887 944 porsche and the wiring so I can try and wiggle it. My tach has no bounce so I'm thinking that it could be the reference/speed sensor and was going to check the connection also. So where is it at Lol......... and can I cross reference this part and get it at my local Advance Auto parts or not. Just out of the blue it just cranks and I have switched DME and thats not it so...................... please help

Stand in front of car.

Center of engine bay back near the firewall.

Do not think you can get one from advance....but search the forum for S/R sensor "alternative" "equal" or "Bosch Speed and reference sensor"

There is BMW, I think, counterpart that is the same.

http://www.clarks-garage.com/

Click "garage shop manual" Click on the "S" Click on "Speed and Reference Sensors > Checking Replacement and Adjustment"

For best prices on the reference sensors

Search for " 0.261.210.002 " on eBay!

it's on the bellhousing. If you look through the birds nest of wires behind the intake (closest to the windshield) you can follow the wires from the harness (I have a turbo, but the harness connects where the O2 sensor connector is located) down to the bellhousing. They are hard to get to with the intake on - not sure on a NA though since the turbo won't be in the way.
