944na Oil Cooler Question..
Ok simple, maybe even dumb question...
How does the oil cooler in a 944na work?
I mean inside the oil cooler housing is a radiator like part; Does oil flow through this radiator and coolant around it; or does coolant flow through this radiator and oil flows around it...? or am i way off...?
I understand a single rubber o-ring seperates oil and coolant in here... -yikes- Just trying to fully understand the workings without actually taking it apart.

No, that's backwards. Oil flows through the cooler and is submersed in coolant.
Yeah, the oil and coolant are separated by o-rings... It is scary but if you change the seals every decade there should be no mixing!

So you guys are just trying to confuse me? ha ha, well i guess i will just have to see for myself.
The reason for my question is i notice a little oil dripping from the outside of the housing.... No Oil in Coolant, and no Coolant in Oil so far.

The oil cooler seals do make a total mess when they go bad -
Here is what I found in my intake -
Running on a fuel/oil/coolant mix, nice, eh?
Here is the sludge coming out of the cooler itself -
And the orings -
All the old seals/orings
All back together -
My old 944 does not have power steering, and the job is not a real hard one, other than the fact I went ahead and pulled the head to have it cleaned and redone......
