Default Bed lining the floor pans?

Ok I am probably going to get flamed for this. As I am nearly finished with stripping the interior, I'm deciding what to use to paint the interior of the car. Sound deadening and carpet is out. Carpet is not going back in. Ever. I was thinking of doing gloss white inside with bed liner where floor mats would traditionally be. To make a no slip surface so to speak, where your feet would rest.
Thoughts?

I think it's a pretty good idea. A company called Lizardskin makes a ceramic, spray-on insulation which is paintable, too. This stuff will be a little heavier than truck bed liner, but their claim is that it makes a good heat shield.

Someone who replied to my "Making it Quiet" thread did a whole car in it. It looked really cool.

A couple of people have done the gutted interiors of their race cars with it to good effect as well.

Got it on my floorboards. Wears much better than just paint.

It will add some weight back in, but placed in the proper areas not much weight. I don't have anything in my foot well area and have worn down the paint the bare metal. It is so dry here in Az however it does not seem to show any rust.

This sounds pretty cool

Anyone have pics of their floorboards with it?

One concern I've heard about using normal truck-type bedliner (both over the counter and professionally applied) is that those materials will outgas if the car catches on fire, probably something to think about if you're planning to track the car.

mvallee has some good shots of his chassis after treating it with LizardSkin:

FWIW, Sherwin Williams also makes a spray-on textured paint that is similar in concept and appearance to the LizardSkin product, but I don't know how it compares in price or performance...just an alternative you may want to look into.

If you're only concerned about traction in the foot wells, why not just get some aluminum tread plate? Light, easy to install, as well as to remove and replace if it ever gets worn or damaged, and no concern about toxic effects during a fire. You can buy it in small quantities, even cut to size, from http://www.metalsupermarkets.com
