At the pace we're going, I'm very hopeful we'll get to 20 units by 15 June, which is the (arbitrary) cutoff date I established in the O.P. It looks very promising that we'll get to the 20 unit threshold for the best pricing, so I'm going to wait to send out invoices for a few more days, that way I don't have to futz around with refunds and applying overages to shipping and all that nonsense. Once you get the paypal invoice, prompt payment will be appreciated, as it takes 4 days for funds to clear into a form that I can use to pay the supplier.

Again, I would love to facilitate this, I just need someone to send me a core. We still have some time to work on this, so if anyone can get a core to me ASAP, I'm sure we can work it out.

Mike, we need to know whether you have the M198 option. I don't know what that option is or how to find out. It appears to me if your car does NOT have the M198 option that it should work.

Alex, thanks for the kind words! We've had great success recently in the 924 community, and it's really cool to finally work on something like this that has broader appeal!

IMI made it clear that they were willing to build me a one-off starter, so I see no reason why these won't be available from them in the future on a bespoke basis at the single-unit price of ~$230, or possibly for future group buys.

Also, I have contacted one Porsche aftermarket reseller to see if they would have any interest in joining our group buy. I've had mixed success in the past, but it's always worth asking, and considering the broader appeal of this particular unit, there's always hope we can get them to join in. In the meantime, I'd be happy to entertain conversations with the boys at Lindsey Racing, Rennbay, Speedforce, or elsewhere. I don't have tight relationships with them, so I'd need an introduction...

I did a quick search and a couple hits show:
M198 - STRONGER STARTER (from 944online.com)
M198 STARTER 1,7 KW (944 S2 FAQ)

I'll find out if my car has this option.

If everybody is OK with USPS priority mail, I can do a flat rate shipping of $12 per item (domestic ONLY...international shipments will be handled independently). This will allow me to keep things simple from an invoicing perspective. I've had excellent success using this shipping method, so far (knock wood), nothing lost or damaged, and that includes hundreds of packages to over 50+ recipients all across the US, Canada, Europe and Australia.

Assuming our tentative buyers all come through, we are one short of the highest discount level. Anybody?

Assuming our tentative buyers come through, we are now over the top. I am going to start invoicing at the 20-unit discount price, plus $12 for USPS flat rate shipping (U.S. recipients only...overseas shipping will be handled separately). If you haven't already, please send me your shipping information and your email address.

My name is Travis. I like candle lit dinners, long walks on the beach and new products for the Porsche 944....

Send me over an email. If anything I could pick one up for my Turbo. The solenoid went out some time back and I have not got around to replacing it.

Sorry - I haven't checked back into this thread for a while. I didn't realize you had put me down as tentative. I'm not going to participate in this GP, but thanks for putting it together.

I've received 14 payments. Need a minimum of 6 more to preserve the top discount. Please try to get your payments in to me over the weekend.

Also, my contact at IMI sent me an email earlier this week, he is hoping to have a photograph available for me later today. I'll post it as soon as I get it. In the meantime, the length of the OE starter is 7.125”, while the IMI starter is only 5.75" in length.
