Drove the car with all issues cleared up after 5 weeks installing new clutch and rebuilding torque tube. Oh and a couple weeks before that I rebuilt the AC system.

Got the oil cooler mounted on the race car. I'm really happy with how clean the installation ended up. I wasn't expecting it to work out this well.

@DDombrowski: Nice simple install of the oil cooler..! Since I'll be doing this pretty soon to my car (I hope), just wanted to get more pics of the aluminum bracket going underneath the radiator/condenser ..my early car doesn't have this..so I'm always looking for more ideas! BTW. bitchin' skid plate too! Thanks!

Thought I would take the 944 to work (which I never do) since it was a nice clear & cool morning. Click, click - not cranking so I cleaned & tightened battery terminals and still not turning over. A quick check under the car, the wires to the starter solenoid had the slightest corrosion so cleaned them up and now typing this at work. The 944 made up the time difference compared to driving my truck so still made it on time.

No car has that aluminum bracket. The previous owner of our car, possibly after an accident, cut off the entirety of the lower radiator support and made their own brackets out of aluminum. I don't really like them but they work and I have more pressing things to fix at the moment.

The undertray was again the work of the previous owner. Its not bad, but I have aspirations of drawing out a whole car undertray and making it out of aluminum on the waterjet machine at work, then building the front ducting into it. One of these days I will get around to it.

We tested the oil cooler setup last night at PBIR for SCCA's Track night in America. Seems to be a success overall - no leaks and the thing has stayed mounted. The water is running significantly cooler with the oil cooler setup, but the oil is running a bit hotter. I'm not sure how much hotter because I don't have a gauge yet but the exterior surfaces of the oil cooler are north of 220.

I think with a bit of ducting we can get the oil temps down and we should be all set for Sebring at the end of September.

I finally got to drive it! I broke both ankles at the beginning of the summer. It's been sitting since June 5 when my brother moved it into the garage for me.

I'm calling it physical therapy. Lol. It keeps my ankles stretched out while I drive, as opposed to my truck. I usually stiffen up while driving, so this is better for me!

Glad to hear that you're up and around! Sorry to hear about the bad breaks. I bet that you're glad to get back behind the wheel again..

Planned to do some work on the 931 this weekend but ended up just driving it a bit and taking a few shots of the car and the pooches playing around it.

Driver side power window mechanism came out of the track. Took everything apart, cleaned all the hidden dirt and then reassembled. All good now.

Default Changed speed sensor yesterday

My car suddenly failed to start on Sunday evening --> no spark. I checked the DME-Relay, it's ok.
Then the speed and reference sensors.
Result:
The speed sensor resistance between Terminal 8 - 27 was instead of 600 - 1600 ohms.

So I looked for a new sensor. But the OEM Bosch 0 261 210 003 is absurd expensive (cable length 380mm).
So I bought the VEMO V20-72-0424 (equal to BOSCH 0 261 210 002) Camshaft Position Sensor --> BMW 5 Saloon 535 i, M 535 i (1980 to 1987) (resistance 900 Ohm) instead of the OEM Bosch sensor. The cable is around 5 inch longer, but this part is about the half price of the OEM.
Engine started right away.
Everything is fine.

It was probably open at the connector. Sometimes, just unplugging and plugging will fix the problem.
Important to always measure at the sensor, besides at the DME.

I had indeed hoped unplugging and plugging would fix the problem, I tried it, but it didn't fix the problem.
It was definitely the dead sensor. As mentioned resistance between terminal 8 - 27 on the sensor plug was instead of 600 - 1600 ohms.

I don't know much about this but I may have to replace my reference sensor and wiring. Is this BMW part number for a 951? Where is the sensor located? I know there is a wire going at the back of the firewall? Also where is the best place to source this sensor? Thanks in advance

Finally new brakes. Rears had to come from Germany, steel brake hoses from pelican, classic porter field pads, new fluid of course.

Next up full clutch job in Tucson at Radmacher

was out in my subaru earlier and found this red 944 at my local trader joe's...
just because the valence is PU doesn't mean you should flex test it
(in case you cant see in the picture, the car is about 3" too far forward - the concrete parking stop is pushing in the center of the valence quite a lot)

which one of you is this...
