its very similar to the "Perlon Felt" offered by appbiz on their site and on eBay...but it's not quite as thick.

i'd recommend buying their kit if you aren't experienced with carpet work and sniffing glue

Just installed a new shift lever with thrust bearings from 944 Only.

I was getting a harmonic vibration and rattle from the original shifter (I suspect that the exhaust is the source of the harmonic), but figured that a worn shift pin with additional clearance wasn't helping things. When I pulled it apart there was indeed a ton of taper on the pin, and pretty much zero lubrication.

I installed the new lever with copious amounts of Mobil-1 grease and it feels great. Now for a test drive to see if the rattle is diminished.

*update - Yep, rattle is completely gone. Yay.

Finished up my one off custom permanent install CIS fuel pressure test gauge with valve to see system, control, and residual pressures at any time..

Didn't have the intake back on yet.. I cut all those bolts and drilled the bottom mount hole in situ so there are some chips I later got with the shop vac before taking the rag off my intake and reinstalling the rest of it..

Before the mount was installed... Showing residual pressure still residing long after shutdown.. System pressure is over 2X that
, who knows I might mess about and use up the whole gauge some day..

See my tethered allen wrench/metering screw port plug... Plugs the hole, take it out to adjust, tether so it can't dissapear or wind up in my cam belt and ruin my sodium valves....

Finished up my front control arm rebuild (Rennbay ball joints, Elephant Racing "sport" front bushings and 968 caster blocks) last night and RTV'd the leaking lower balance shaft rear seal. Gotta give the RTV 24 hours to cure so the test drive is tonight

Default Restoration update

Reinstalled the rebuilt turbo and added A pillar 2 gauge console w/turbo boost gauge and Innovate Air Fuel Ratio gauge system. Had to remove the glove box to help in drilling 3/4" holes near battery for routing cable for AFR gauge and removed gauge cluster to make running and connecting cables easier.

I accidentally ran into two other red 944s, and '89 and '84(front left and right respectively), on Woodward this evening. This is something that will most likely never happen again, as this was all pure luck and chance. Mine's the '84 in the back.

Also, my driver's side door handle broke a couple hours later, so I took it off, taped up the wholes and drove home.

Those early offset phone dials look just perfect for the 944. I wish they made them offset just a bit more at the rears to fill out those arches.

I agree. I had Fuchs and early phone dials for my '84 when I had it. Obviously the Fuchs were my favorite set but I came to like the phonies too, eventually. The late offset phone dials that do winter duty on my '87 just don't have the same look. Without that bit of dish they just look kind of bland.
