Post Oil filter wrench for Mahle filters?

I'm getting ready to do an oil change on my '86 951, and I would like to have an oil filter wrench specifically designed for the Mahle (Porsche spec) filters.

Due to the orientation of the filter on the engine, the traditional cheap "wrap around" oil filter wrenchs are not the easiest to use.

I would like to get the "cap" type that fit onto the end of the filter. Using a 12" 3/8" drive extension and ratchet it should just spin right off.

Any ideas on where to get one of these? Are all of the Mahle filters a standard size fitting?

This has come up several times and I don't know why people have a hard time finding these cap type sockets. Maybe it is because I bought mine 12 years ago.

You are in Chicago, so Pep Boys or Track Auto should have them. Most that I saw when I lived down there were a cast aluminum alloy type with a 3/8" square drive for your extension. They come in at least 3 sizes as I recall so bring your filter along to get the correct one.

Mine is made by "D & F Mold". Has 15 flats, though they are not exactly shaped like a socket flat - has indents to fit the filter a bit better. The inner diameter between the flats is about 2 15/16". As I said, take a filter along to test out.
