Uh, no.

Go to Renegade in LV and talk to Scott. Or call him and ask.

Anyway, back to reality lol... I would love to get a ride in Tony's car just so I could feel it, but there is no way in hell I could fit in his car. I would pay for his time if he would swap a stock seat in his car for a day. My thoughts are to build either an LS2 or stroke an LS1/6. I'm shooting for 450whp. I feel like I could handle it, but then Whisper has to come along and say that 350ish is more than enough. I don't really care about hooking up off the line. I just want hard breathing, neck bending, cheek widening acceleration in all 5 gears. I want to go 175mph. I want crazy, not institutional crazy, just fun crazy.
Tony's car *IS* crazy.

No, I get it, I get it, I understand. Trust me, I share your addiction.

But drive one, and you'll realize that once you get past a certain point, you get more "whheeeee" out of a 948 by putting that extra cash into tightening up the handling.

There's a lot of head room in an LS1 to go northwards powerwise once you get everything else sorted. If you want even more horsepower, go for a racing cam, and ls6 heads before you change the short block.

You see, the biggest issue with these swaps is getting everything to fit. An LS1/2 accessory package goes right in. Anything else, you're in unexplored territory. It's probably easier to work your LS1/2 northward to 500chp than to go with a different short block.

Well, on the outside, all the LS blocks are the same dimensions. The LS 7 and 9 use a dry sump oil system, but just to increase oil volume for greater cooling. Infact, the LS9 block IS an LS2 with 9:1 compression for the supercharger. It also has oil squirters for the bottom of the pistons to keep them cool under boost.... but the "block" is the same.

Any of the LS engines will fit the same in our cars (except the supercharger sits higher than a stock manifold).

good times ahead...

Ok, more updates. I don't know if I should post them here, or find our old "LS1 swap" thread...... anyhoo

Anyone paying attention to the Porsche hybrids forum? Someone by the name of Xschop has created adapters to fit Boxster S brakes on an early offset 944. That is FAN-TASTIC!!! That solves us early guys brake upgrade problems!!!

I'm rather upset I just spend $600 on a complete brake job..... but it looks like Boxster S brakes will be in my future anyway.

The LS9 is a modified LS3, not an LS2. The LS2 is a 6.0L, the LS3 is a 6.2L.

Back to the original post, I love LSx swapped cars. Done a few RX7's they are a blast. Eventually, I'll get around to one for myself. 'Grats on taking Tony's beast for a ride.

Just to clarify this setup, it uses Boxster S rotors and Lexus LS430 4-piston monoblock calipers. And yes, they ARE amazing :-) Just finished putting them on my LSx swap project.

Johnny, what are you using for a booster (Or are you)? The BMW Hyd. boost looks do-able, but there's alot of plumbing involved.

Also, how much do those monoblocks weigh? Seems like a lot of unspring weight.

I'm not complaining about the system, because I'm pretty sure I'm going to do this... just wondering about the weight of those Iron calipers.

Lexus caliper weighs around 11 pounds with pads. Boxster S rotors are 318mm diameter, so the friction surface is quite a bit more than stock (for my NA especially!).

Size comparison with stock rear turbo calipers:

They fill out my 17" wheels nicely:

I haven't decided whether to boost the brakes or not. I'm going to try them unboosted, then if I'm not happy with performance in various conditions, then I'll look at a remote booster setup. For some reason I'm not a big fan of Hydroboost right now.

That was my next question...

I assume from the picture that 17" wheels are the minimum?

FYI...

"948" is PORSCHE for the Cayenne ALUSIL cylinder block project.

Maybe you might use 945? or 949?

Just a thought.....
