Question Yet another wheel offset question...

I got myself 4 used 17" cup wheels part # 993.362.124.00 and was wondering what size spacers do I need if any? If I understand correctly older wheels have 23.3mm offset and new ones 52.3mm. Would I need a spacer with a width of the difference between the 2 offsets? I can't really get this offset thing yet.

Thanks a lot Danno, the links and the racerx website really helped. Still, just to make sure...
The rims are 17x7.5 and 17x9.5 [overall width] the backspaces are 6" and 7" respectively. Which give 57.15mm offsets. Since I'm sure I wasn't as precise as I could've been while measuring, I'll say this is quite close to the late model's 52.3mm offset. So, if I add a 29mm spacer the offset will be back at 23.3mm. Is all this correct or am I missing something?

I believe that would be a 33.85mm spacer (57.15 - 23.3). But the 28mm Porsche spacer should be close enough...

The actual offset should be stamped on the wheel somewhere. ETxxx
