944 turbo front license plate
Hey guys.
After years of getting warnings for having no front license plate, I finally got an actual ticket for it yesterday. However, the cop said if I fix it within 30 days he will take the ticket back. As much as I hate to put a front plate on it(it looks stupid and I would imagine it blocks airflow to the intercooler?), I guess I would like to avoid the ticket.
However, my car just has the holes for a german/euro plate bracket. Do I need to drill new holes, or ??

Make a bracket that mounts to the holes for the euro plate, put on your front plate, get the ticket written off and remove the assembly. done.
Someone here posted pics of a US plate trimmed so as not to block the vent openings, but, here in CA.
that is not 100% legal.

I took the rear bracket off the parts car and used it on the front of my 951. The rear mount uses the inner holes on the bracket, the front uses the outer holes. Worked perfectly - I even used the bolts and rubber spacers that held the bracket on the other car.

I have been ticketed several times for no tag on my 89 951 but still refused to place the tag on the car due to obvious restriction of the IC's limited area.
I didn't see the tag offered on the DMV website.
Do you have any info?
Thanks.

Not if you have to buy them. But then again, most states have laws against modifying the plate. We have a stupid law in PA, where you can be fined if you cover up the state gov't website address. The address is right at the bottom edge of the plate, making it nearly impossible to buy a plate frame that won't obstruct the view. Car dealers went berserk along with people who already bought frames. Now it's one of those unenforced laws. I don't think they even give warnings anymore.

I ran a Euro plate on the front of 3 diffrent cars here in CA for years and NEVER got stopped for it.
it was a Dutch plate off of my cousins Car in Holland.
I do not have a front plate on the 951 and have yet to be stopped.
I've thought about getting one of those Euro plates that can be ordered with whatever you want it to say, and having my CA lic. number on it. or maybe make one up like the small front they used to have in Italy....

If I get called on it I'll just take my lumps and pay the fine. I will say that I think no plate is actually stealthier than this plate, I get lots of comments on it. On the other hand, how mad can an officer be that I have a plate with the right numbers that's easier to read than the real thing?
