Zucker,

I only wish that I had the benefit of this info a couple of months ago. I replaced the O2 sensor on my '84, a California car. I used the 13913 without the universal connector kit. I cut off the Ford connector and spliced on my original connector using environmental connectors that I heat shrunk. I staggered the splices. I used the new red protector tube.

Now, after reading above, I'm worried that I cut off the referrence air. I'm sorry if I missed it. But, explain to me how this ambient air travels through the harness. Does it go down the protection tube? Through the wires themselves. Is there any way to splice and not interrupt the referrence airway.

Thanks in advance.

This is Zucker,
If you spliced it together and then put heat shrink over it then you should be ok. I was worried about those that used the butt connectors(not sealed). Sounds like you are ok.
Thanks!!
The reference air is replenshied through the wire harness(inside the ECU were the wires are finally exposed).

So I go to my local PEP Boys parts store and price the original equipment O2 sensor, Bosch p/n 13012...$230.00 (that's $50 MORE than the dealer wanted for it). Then I price the equivalent replacement, Bosch p/n 15725...$79! Even for these prices I need to wait a week because neither is in stock.

What's going on here with these prices??

Can anyone suggest where to get the p/n 15725 for around $60, in stock? Thanks.

At least you could find the 15725? I called the local Pep Boys, and all the others to no avail? I did find the 13913 that everyone else says they use at Autozone for 35.99. If it works on everyone elses could it really be all that different for mine?

This info appears to be a bit out of date... perhaps not surprising after nearly 8 years! In any case, the current Bosch cross ref for the universal replacement is 15735, and the "exact fit" (i.e., with plug) is 13011.

My 86 928 S/C is back from John Kuhns tuning.

The narrow band is eractic I have a new 3-wire bosch and need to verify a couple of things.

The air referance point is at the ecm?
Therefor the splicing of the green wire that is crumbled needs to be sealed at the connection.

The ground wire of the green wire needs to be grounded to the CE panel? I see no other way to ground this unless through the ground of the heater wires, thoughts?

I confess, I didn't make it to page 3 of this thread before ordering 15725 and it's going to cost me $8 to return it. Anyone know if the old part still works?

OK, old thread but seems to be good information.

Can anyone shed light on how I'm supposed to connect the wires on the sensor to the plug off the old one?
Can't find a universal connector system.
how do I make this happen?
TIA

Frank
