You are going to cost me a bunch of money. This is a way cool idea. Keep us posted on your progress. I'm on the look out for a trashed turbo.

the lucky guy that trashed that turbo walked away without any injuries. he is a rennlister too, and is now driving a beautyfull yello 996T.

I forgot to post a picture of my sleeping beauty (85.5) that will get all the goodies, so here she is:

I was going to do this - but then I couldnt justify storing a broken down car in the driveway. It should be pretty straightfoward mechanically, especially since you've got a late N/A. Expect to have lots of fun in the electronics department though.

only real issue in the electronics department lyes in wiring up the circuit for the afterrun turbo waterpump- and i dont think that will be too hard. I saw the thread of when this car was wrecked- man it was too nice! Good luck w/ the project ive helped and done one or two of these swaps before- just yank the harness through the firewall and leave it on the engine- easiest thing to do- then drop it back into the n/a and hook up the computers. pretty straight forward.

I was going to ask if those are euro bumpers- then I noticed you are in Slovenia. My uncle says Celje is one of the best places he's ever lived-

and that includes Santa Barbara.

Do you use a FMIC or somehow mount the 951 IC?

Easy Swap! All you need to get that engine working is the DME harness and DME. Don't forget the whole exhaust system too now.

I've seen a sleeper NA with a Turbo motor in it. You will have fun with that car.

hmm dunno, I think so. I cut out the top of transaxle tunel and than I cut both sides off. here are some more pics

everything went quite ok, except one little saw glitch that punctured 1-4 exhaust manifold what is this manifold made out of anyway, it acts like paper..

I recall that the factory manifolds are a tubular steel with an outer stamped steel heat shields.

The pictures aren't loading for me on this comp... Is the car on fire?

I'm sorry, but thats awesome that you had to cut the car away from the drivetrain! Glad that he got out without a scratch but also sad to see his 951 get cut up...

it's sad, but atleast the drivetrain will get some extra attention now and hopefully will go in to my car in nicer condition than the drivetrain on the first picture of this thread

actually I'm glad that this dirty work is more or less over and that future work will not be cuting things apart.

However I have mixed feelings about changing drivetrain on my 944 that runs and does its job beautifully, and is as reliable as wooden spoon.. I don't want to transform this nice car in to a can of worms, so I want this 951 engine to be 110% tight before fitting it in.

I was searching for thread of this car before the accident, and wasn't able to find it.. does anybody know how to find it?
