This is a very dangerous thing to my productivity! I have RSS readers all over the place - phone, firefox toolbar (plugin), and on the desktop. Rennlist can follow me anywhere!

Whats an RSS feed?

It allows you to view an automatically updated listing of the current threads in a "RSS Reader". A RSS reader can take many forms, including:

- a email program (makes each thread appear to be a different email in a special folder)
- a web browser such as Firefox or IE 7 (makes each thread a bookmark in a special folder, shows top 10 or so threads)
- a desktop widget (I have a little window on my desktop that will display the top 10 threads)
- a screen on your cell phone
- something else (there's literally 100's of rss reader programs)

Using an RSS reader I can see on my desktop at all times a listing of the top 10 threads without ever opening my web browser.

Yep. I have one as a scrolling marquee toolbar at the bottom of firefox. And one on my desktop. You can get feeds from all sorts of places... news headlines, stock quotes, website and blog posts, and now slashdot.
