One reason i wish i had an early dash.
Some back story..
The late interiors are nice, but i must say i do miss the no nonsense early interior of my 924S. Ive been working on my friends early '85 for the last few months and finally started to get the interior back together. The car suffered alot of melted wires behind the dash due to tons of electrical problems. We bought a full interior harness from a early '83 and replaced two of the main harnesses. It was a ton of work splicing and re routing the harness into the interior. But the wiring is finally done and just needs to be tucked under the dash.
This is what the car looked like around this time last year..
and about a year later with new rod bearings, all new vacuum lines and hoses, turbo brakes and a few other things..
And the coolest tach you can get. Makes me want an early interior still!
All that is left for this car is the interior put back in, windshield installed, hood put back on and the turbo front end put on.

Gauge is from a old 924. The gauge does not provision for the stock connector, but you can make three jumper wires. One end with male spades and the other with female spades. There are three wires, black, green and brown if i remember. I forget where they go exactly on the gauge but can check again this weekend for anyone interested. I do remember the black wire goes to the 12+ on the gauge.

Slightly OT, but where do the wires from the doors run into the car? If you open the door you see an accordion thing that has window wires, etc in it....how would I get to those wires inside the car?

Late interiors are superior if only for the fact that the fusebox on early cars is located in a nightmare spot.

Yes, the fuse box is a royal PITA on the early cars. Imagine what i went through having to redo two of the wire harnesses running out of it.. .

Yeah the early dash has enough charm to make you envy it once in a while. Then you think about practical details and you realize the late dash is designed better.
With that tach, you can take the engine all the way up to red-wedge.
