Default Windshield washer nozzle very weak squirter

Hi

The squirt has left my washer nozzles. Could it be the nozzles or the pump? The right nozzle has been reduced to a weak stream that can hardly reach the windshield and the left nozzle is just a dribble out of the end. I had read somewhere to check the check valve in the nozzle but I havent determined if its the pump. How should I go about troubleshooting. Thank you in advance.

It could just be that they are filled with wax. Have you taken a needle and cleared them out?

I agree with BB and have had this happen before. pour some warm water on it and use a toothpick in the holes.

I've actually found it a bit better to take one of those braided wires (I forget what they are actually called, but the ones with multiple thin filaments inside them) and remove two strands. I'll twist them around each other and stick them in the washer holes twisting them between my thumb and forfinger like a drill. Does that make any sense?

Doing that can remove a little bit of the wax instead of just jamming it down where it may come back...

That works - also I've had good luck blowing them clean out with compressed air (after you do the needle/wire thing). You can also use the needle or a wire to aim them (they tend to get knocked out of proper "aim" after a while).

Mine had that problem and I needed a new T-valve.. unsure of the correct terminology.

YMMV

I had a little pebble stuck in one of mine. I used a Mitivac to suck it back out from the underhood side, and it was fine. Poke the nozzles with a needle or wire or whatever works for you, then suck the loosened debris out from the other side (where the opening is bigger).

I've replaced the check valves a couple of times, they're the little plastic doo-hickies that are inline with the tubing near the nozzles, tucked up in the hood. They keep the washer fluid from flowing back into the tank after each use and they can get gunked up and impede the flow.

Any way to replace the nozles, to get a better spray, rather than a blast due to the holes being too big, old, or whatever?
