I know, I know, the air-cooled beasts are outcasts among this crowd

Thanks for the warm welcome guys !

For the record, I pretty much finished the 951 project (read, spent too much money on it), so needed another project car so am trying on the 911 for size. They are very very different. The 951 is refined compared to the 911 - I still love it to death and don't plan on parting with it

So, looks like we are on for Berryessa on Monday morning ?

What's the big round funny looking thing, and why is the coil upside down ? Isn't the motor in backwards ?

Thought I'd mock the 911 a little to earn points back in this forum...

Brad and I did the Berryessa trip last year and it was a good alternative to high traffic spots like Coast Highway on a holiday weekend. We owned miles of great twisties and the drive isn't really that far for any one group. Us valley types usually meet up at Bakers Square in West Sac at Harbor and Hwy. 50(Business 80). The drive over to the meeting place is a fun drive by itself. We will meet at 9am at the junction of Hwy 128 and the Lake Berryessa cutoff (Berryessa-Knoxville Road). Bay area people can get to Napa and take Hwy 121 north, turn left on 128 for 5 miles to the meet-up. From there we take backroads to Lower Lake (Clearlake) via Pope Valley Road and Butts Canyon Road, buy gas and grab some lunch. We try to keep it simple, especially the short notice trips like this one. I'm sure we can round up some Sac regulars and Roger is welcome to link up with us if he wants to caravan over. I hope this isn't taken as a stealing your thread; if it is I'll move it to a separate post. I probably should anyway to avoid confusion. All marques are invited, my son is bringing the 325ix. I'll PM the locals here in case the they aren't following this thread.

I hope to see some BA people who just like to drive, have fun, and not follow sightseers on crowded roads.

I'll post a new thread tomorrow "NorCal Berryessa-Clearlake Run" with maps, etc. You should meet up with us for the 'spirited' drive over. Juan will miss another one it looks like...digging sharp stick into his ample side.

lol

I'm up for any kind of run. I kinda wish the Berryessa run would have been a different event than this - when 2 events merge into one, you're left with just one event! I drove through hwy 1 from my house (by 19th avenue) past stinson beach... Wow, that road is amazingly twisty, beautiful, and crowded. If it were ever empty during the day I'd SO be there.

My family used to make picnic trips to lake Berryessa... it'll be fun to visit that place again after a decade, with a Porsche instead of my old Power Wheels Jeep Wrangler. The trip will be kinda long though so I might just bring my bro as a passenger instead of dragging 2 cars out there.

The BA folks could split off at Lower Lake, cut over to Skaggs-Springs-Pt. Steward Road and down Hwy. 1 to SF. That would give you another route home and only add 2 hours onto the day. Just a thought.

My only issues with Pt. Reyes are the crappy roads, the Pt. Pierce section smells like a fetid dairy, and the wind blows the skin off your face this time of year. Other than that you can tell I'm really enamored by the place right? I prefer the road less travelled so that getting nowhere is actually fun. Your'e off Monday, join up.
