Default stupid question.. TPS

OK, my idle is running high when warm. (like 2000/ 2100 rpm)

at the risk of sounding ignorant- here goes-
Where is the TPS? (throttle position sensor) and how can it be rebuilt?
PET is no help.

I feel like an idiot.

oh and also to check it or rebuild it, no real clue, but i'd get a voltage meter. the white wire should be at 4.7-5.0, the black wire will be at 0 and the brown is just the ground i believe, or maybe its switched at its the brown that should be at 0 and the black is the ground, that makes more sense. to test to see if they are responding correctly (btw the key should be in the on possition, u dont need the car running though) put the pedal down to the floor, and their numbers should change to the exact opposite of the brown being at 4.7-5.0 and the white being at 0. if they do this correctly then ur tps is working correctly i believe, somebody should check me on that though. it would probably be something else. hope this helps

dude, it's the little black thing under the throttle,
disconnect the throttle body from the the air box and turn it over.

I think clarks garage has a write up on testing it.

i'm sorry, but wow...lol just look at the top of the engine in the very center, its between the bent black tube (like a C shakpe) and intake manifold (the thing that goes from one tube, to 4 smaller tubes) thats where the carb is, ur trottle cable connects to it, yanno ur gas petal line? lol and then the tps is located right beneath it!

Theoretically, it can't be rebuilt and you should fit a new one for around $80.

However, our good friend Bruce at arnnworx.com has figured out a way to rebuild it and has the procedure explained somewhere on his website:

http://www.arnnworx.com/tps-repair.htm

Have fun getting the throttle body off!
