Now go have fun with it! I swear a 944 w/ LSD is like a totally different car!

Mine has an LSD, but I was thinking about getting another. Will I be unhappy if it doesn't have an LSD?

hmmm, I've had 3 944's, I would say you will not really notice it, unless you are big into autocross, or you like to drive it pretty hard, getting it sideways alot. I would not buy one without it personally, but they are very rare, the reason I picked the one I did. I'd say just try driving one without it and see what you think. Are you into autox?

#220 is a limited slip differential, not a locking differential.

I was always under the impression that a locking differential spins both axles evenly with no torque biasing...must be my Jeeper days.

A simple write-up can be found here:
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/differential8.htm

"Locking" only applies to limited traction surfaces, dirt ,gravel, snow. On dry pavement you will tear your drivetrain apart with a true locking differential. A Torsen is close but still provides torque biasing but with mechanical means, no clutches.

ahhh, got ya, so it realyl shouldn't be called a locking differential, thanks good to know, I just always thought that was what porsche called them. I was sure that 220 was the LSD code, because of the original window stickers I have seen. Maybe just a mistake on whatever website, i and the rest of the people have read it on.
