Default Just wanted to say thanks to the contributors on this site!

My 944S shut off enroute to work the past two mornings about 3 miles from the house. Someone suggested it might be the DME relay, so I did a search and found out from others who posted with similar symptoms that changing the relay usually fixed the problem. When I went to leave work to go to Stuttgart Haus in Mooresville, NC to get a relay, the car wouldn't start...fortunately I also found out that tapping on it sometimes fixed the problem temporarily. I ended up "tapping" on it two different times to get there...but it sure beat being stranded! I got the new relay...Hopefully all will be will now.

As a emergency fix, you could also remove the relay use a "Y" jumper wire to supply power to the DME and fuel pump.

Who is on the hood? Is that your car?

Yeah, my car, my wife...
I got some better pics, but they don't make the 'PG' rating.

You know, I'm usually quite against NWS and near NWS pix, but that is such a good take on the classic 944 poster.....

So when you building the ITS car?

Our plan is to have the car completed in time to get the SCCA license and some track time in 2005. The car is still capable of being a daily driver. We are currently racing WKA Speedway Dirt ovals, and I still have a lot of commitments to fulfill there. We'll be tapering off the karts, and putting our resources towards the ITS car throughout the year. I'm going to have Speed Werks in Thomasville, NC do the cage, I will be doing the motor.

We have a Double School in mid-January at Kershaw, SC where you can get your license req's done in one school. Check out the CCRSCCA.com website over the next few weeks as the application hasn't been posted yet. I realize you want to get _your_ car ready but considering the school is close enough to you to sleep in your own bed, might want to look at doing a rental (might want to call the guys at Eurowerks Ltd. in Charlotte to see if they will be renting out the 944 for the school) and that way you have the req's out of the way and when the car is ready, so are you. Otherwise, there are 3 or 4 teams in the SE that will have Spec Miatae for rent there.

and welcome to SEDiv SCCA

I am so embarassed for your wife and for Rennlist. This has to be an all-time low.

Or is this nomal in the George Bush's US?

What does our gung ho moderator think of this?

George Bush doesn't own the US, we do. He is just one of many elected officials who run one of our branches of our government for a very short period of time. As for the picture, I didn't see anyone forcing her to take a picture. There are a lot of “girl” pictures on the forums. No rules on this to date.

Back to the post, one should always carry a spare DME relay. Check that the replacement isn't getting hot, a sure sign that the problem is an over current issue with one of the components the DME relay drives.

That's a low post, Peckster. Could you do us all a favor and keep the political bull**** to OT? Thanks.
