Wombat7,
Clarks garage has a good write up: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/susp-01.htm.
The easiest thing is to replace the half-axle unit, which is both CV joints and the axle with new boots. just remove the bolts, pack the new joints and bolt back on. But if economics demand that you replace the joints and boots on the axle, you'll need a good set of external snap ring pliers to remove the retaining clip (its really hard to remove). Either way, you'll need a 8mm triple-square(or cheesehead or internally splined) tool. Its a good idea to have a few extra bolts, too, in case you strip a head.
Rebuilt joints may not be a good idea. They are not always done well.
Good Luck.
