Non-Porsche Related Hobbies: Road biking, soccer, travel (dual UK/Canadian citizen so hop back and forth a bit), beer, cats
Porsche Genesis: A few years ago I had a 1987 VW which I absolutely loved. It was a "downgrade" from a 2007 but I preferred the simplicity, the charm, the 80s-ness, and the continual shopping for parts and tinkering with it. I wanted to move on to something similar, but a step up. Of course this could only mean another 80's German car - and the 911 was perfect. Back then (2011) 87-89 911 prices were somewhat reasonable, but I ultimately got frustrated at being beaten to the punch every time a decent one became available. I lost heart and bought something more modern. Long story short, the 911 idea never went away and earlier this year I found my 951 and fell in love with it. Sold my 2012 I'd had for 9 months (great car but no passion) and pulled the trigger.
The 911 is still on the cards - but with prices now escalating and the 951 putting a smile on my face, who knows.
Rennlist: Research point for the 911 back when that was happening - been lurking for years

Name: Richard
Age: 48
Occupation: IT - CIO
Non-Porsche Related Hobbies: Skiing (mostly cross-country and biathlon), soccer, road cycling, waterskiing
Porsche Genesis: My father-in-law had two. '89 951 and '91 S2. A few years ago I had survived a cancer scare complete with a brutal surgery, and he gave me the S2 as a thank-you for not dying...
So I got mine through pain, generosity, and a sense of humor.
Rennlist: Found it while learning how to maintain it. I've always been an amateur wrencher. Loving the S2.

Porsche Genesis: My father bought the 1990 s2 cab in 1992 used. I grew up with it and after my dad lost interest I am now reviving her. After I stop the hemorrhaging I will enjoy driving around VA next year.

Name: Greg
Age: 32
Occupation: Hardware Engineer turned Software Engineer
Non-Porsche Related Hobbies: Triathlons
Porsche Genesis: I never liked the 911, the engineer in me just thinks all that Porsche engineering is just putting lipstick on a pig. Always wanted a project car so I started looking for a RWD 2+2 for under $4k. Turns out there aren't many options. Ended up narrowing it down to a Z32 300ZX and the 944, but the 300ZX is much more cramped to work on so I went for the 944. I don't think I've regretted my decision...
Rennlist: Found it to be the most complete database of information while starting to wrench, so I joined up.

Name: Phil (but pretty much everyone calls me "Pilk")
Age: 34
Occupation: Motion Graphics and 3D Animation
Hobbies: Modding other cars >_>; video editing, beer, classic video games (COD has nothing on Bubble Bobble), guns. Did I say cars already? Lots of cars! Basically, if it's expensive I'm there
Porsche Genesis: When I was growing up a guy in my neighborhood had a 944 and I've always wanted one. I bought mine in 2001 and DDed it for a few years before I decided to be a clot, and appropriately ruined it. Restoration underway! I hope to add a 951, 928 and 914 to my collection some day, and the wife wants a 550 spyder (replica). Which is why she is the "wife." You can't let the good ones escape.
Rennlist: Discovered many years ago, I forget how. But I've joined now! That counts, right?

Name: Matt Marken
age: 29
occupation: painter
Non-Porsche hobbies: My Audi TT, paint and body work, custom fabrication, art and tattooing(was a professional and liscensed), dreaming of way too many wheels sets I want!
Porsche Genesis: I have been in love with 911 since I was 8 or so. I have always said they are out of my price range, but with the money I have spent on my cars, I could have easily bought one... I started paying attention to the 944 when I was 16. I have always known I would end up with one. I recently started a major build with my Audi, so I needed a new daily driver. I figured the time was right to look for a 944, and found a clean low milage car, so I bought it a few days later. I am completely in love with it. It's a nice change from dealing with the newer complex Audi.
Rennlist: I have always found forums helpful, so I simply found this one.

Porsche Genesis: I always loved the 944 as a kid. I have imaginged having a pet car for a while but needed to wait for the right time for money and to have a good garage of my own. Finally about 2 months ago, my 1983 944 has arrived. I love fixing stuff on it and making it wonderful again.
Rennlist: I am new to the list and getting a lot out of it. It is a nice community and I hope to make a contribution.

Age: 58
Occupation: Retired Mariner, now Power Plant Operator
Hobbies: Too many to list - too much free time on my hands
Porsche Genesis: My Dad had a foreign car shop when he retired from the Navy. Grew up around that business - All makes / models. I noticed the Porsche owners were more squared away and the car's were cooler. First Porsche - 73' 914; Second Porsche - 97 Boxster; Gravitated to 88' 944 - Love the Lines.
Renlist - Stumbled on it learning about 944's - Best source of Porsche info and advice on the planet.
