Default First time Porsche Owner, 924s, maintenance questions

Hello! Im the proud new owner of the 1988 Porsche 924s. My uncle just gave me her since he thinks Ill be able to keep up with the maintenance. So, Ive read for hours and determined that you can run 15w50 oil or 20w50 (please correct me if im wrong). Other than that, I have no idea when to do things like the timing belt and valve adjustments. Can anyone fill me in?

I also need some recommendations on how to clean her up. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum.

When you get a chance, post some photos of her interior and options sticker [in the trunk, on the rear panel, behind the carpet, near the hatch lock].

If you don't have records of a timing belt change I'd do a belt and roller kit first thing. If you have oil leaks on front of the engine it's a good time to do a front engine seal kit. Timing belt has to come off to change the water pump so that's a "while you're in there" judgment call.

Unlike my f250, the porsche doesnt leak oil, but ny uncle did the timing belt less than a thousand miles ago.

It does appear your 924 is an SE model. Take at look at the options sticker...M756 would confirm this is an SE. Other options may include M404 [front/rear sways], M456 [M404 plus sport dampers], and M990 [seats with cloth/fabric inserts].

If this is indeed an M756-optioned 924, it would be a relatively rare car...probably one of less than a couple thousand ever built.

It is an SE - 500 built. MJ 1988 total 2100 imported to the US. M030 is on the options sticker (trunk or service manual). No M404/M456. How's the interior?

Seats probably have leatherette bolsters with fabric inserts matching the pinstripe material on the door cards.

TO answer the original question, you should do the timing belt, balance belt and all rollers/sprockets every 30,000 miles.
You should change the water pump every 60,000 miles (every other belt change).

You never need to do a valve adjustment.

Correct, I just checked and they match the doors. The passenger one is badly stained, but the drivers side one is clean.
