Default Testing the 944 spec suspension

Well, I spent the weekend testing out the 944 spec suspension. Ive bene building my 924S for 944 spec over the last year, and am hoping to have the car finished and start racing next year. Man what a difference the suspension makes!!! Thought you guys might want to see some pics.

The pics didn't take. Maybe it is just me however! I am also interested in getting my 924 into Spec. 944.

Basically I have 2 main issues to resolve beofre the car is ready to race. First I need to finish the roll cage. Right now I have a 4 point roll bar, but I plan on having the front of the cage done this winter. The second issue is figuring out why my car is down on power. It put down 116 to the wheels.

Cool
There are a few spec 944s or sp1s in the mid west now and they are a blast to drive and way cheaper than an I car to run, we think they are faster than an I car also but driver plays in more than the car most of the time.

Tires last a long time as do brakes on the cars. Fun, fun, fun for not a lot of money.

I had not seen this thread till now, but glad you like the suspension. As basic as it seems it works quite well for transforming the car in to nimble little machine.

Jason,
Glad to see the progress! As you know, I raced a 924S quite successfully for several years in NASA's 944 Spec class, which has the same rule set as PCA SP-1. Great little race car! We don't get too many PCA Club races out here in SoCal, but I've raced the 924S with PCA at Phoenix and Cal Speedway Fontana.
The 944 Spec rule set is the best one out there if you're thinking of racing a 944 or 924S. Get some 944 guys together and start a group in your area. We'll give you all the support you need. Just don't smash up that SE edition!! But you may want to get some stock mirrors (tongue in cheek).

Jason:

As you know, I'm looking at the same suspension. I'm torn now between the Spec944 package (koni + weltmeister) and Bilstein Escort Cup. First, I'm not building a racer (yet) so I realize that the Escort Cups would not meet Spec944 rules. What I like about the Bilstein package is that I can actually yank out the torsion bars and make the suspension more suitable for small-brain types like myself.

So, the two packages cost about the same. The Escorts do not come with sway bars, and the shocks/struts are not adjustable; but they offer more/easier adjustment to height, and by deleting the t-bars, installation is easier (it being easier to pull a tooth than to build a crown!).

What say you! (Bias expected.)
