What are the stock muffler weights?

That was quick. Luckily I used to buy and sell cocaine for a living so I can easily convert the kilos to pounds in my head
If the side mufflers weigh 18 kilos vs the center weighing 8 kilos, why don't more people keep the stock center muffler and just go with a side muffler delete product? There's more weight savings there and the side muffler delete products (ie fabspeed) are not expensive.
Does it just sound like crap or something?

This was essentially what style exhaust I had in the C2S. Muffler deletes with the center section having a slightly larger muffler than the stock resonator.

All the cup cars have this very configuration. If you've heard a late model 997 cup, they sound very good. Also, at low load, e.g. cruising on the freeway, the sound isn't very loud at all. Best of both worlds.
08- 997 cup muffler is about $1500 and the two elbows are $450 each from PMNA. You can fabricate your own elbows for a lot less though. They are just 90 degree bends with two flanges. Any good muffler shop can make it.

Akro equals baller exhaust Too $$$ for an average Joe like myself.
Fabspeed makes a side muffler delete pipe for $1200. I was curious to see if it would A) sound bad and B) lose power
I guess it depends on how restrictive the side mufflers are when they open up as compared to just getting rid of them altogether.
Seems like an easy way to shave off more weight off the back end. Would love to find some data on power loss/gain and a sound clip.

But i have not used them to date other them using them with my sharkwerks bi-pass for total muffler delete
Im told the stock center muffler is not really designed to be a "solo" muffler and heat becomes an issue in the stock center if using side deletes....
Im going to give it a try this summer as the concept of dropping the two heaviest mufflers makes sense. A test if you will...
Any body have spare flanges that allow the stock center muffler to connect to the sides so i can give this a whirl??
I have misplaced my flanges as i never have used the stock mufflers since ownership.
(the side deletes require these flanges to mate to the stock center)

Dog, seek ViperBob and the shop he works at since they could make up what ever you want. The pics of what Nizer posted is what to use. Also see what FVD is selling because they use M&M exhaust and a lot of that is approved for the various Euro Cup Car series.
I have something like this on my GTS now.....comes out of the headers and it X's at the rear and into 2 small cup car like mullers to the tips. With the ECU tune you got from Eddie you might free up some power in the upper end.
