914 clutch cable

914 clutch cable
Hi guys,
I have a 1971 914. I drove it one day and something snapped as i pressed the clutch pedal. The pedal stays to the floor if i pick it up just falls back down. Idk if its the cable but the cable was hanging by the trans mission. I had an extra cable in my house but i cant figure out how to take the old cable off the pedal. Its a small working area. And this is my first tome. And suggestions and help i been looking all over google can't find anything. Please help! Im really hoing it is the cable.
