Default Rennshift Recommendation

We've just completed my 914/6 conversion in which I stayed with the 901 side shift tranny. What is the conscenus about installing a Rennshift short throw shifter on this car?

Have Rennshift on both my 914's. Good product and greatly improves shifting. Does require some adjustments to make it work right. Not a simple plug and play...

Ski,

Thanks for the reply. From doing research, I did find that adjustment can be an issue. However, Tangerine just came out with an easily manipulated adjustment device that they sell for about $190. Are you familiar with the device, and if so, do you think it would address your comment about difficulties in setting the shifter up?

The device uses a rack & pinion worm adjuster to make small changes in rotation of the shift rod, which should eliminate the need to use trial and error to find the right spot.

I have Rennshift on both 914's and will never have one without it. I actually never had to adjust anything...plug and play for me. Both on 901, and now a 915 in the race car. In the 'street' car "Huey" everyone is amazed how perfect the shifting is. I can't say enough good things about the product.

I have seen the adjustment deal Chris sells and it could help. The back and forth adjustment can be a pain to get right- Bob must have been lucky. It took a while with my '71 but I was also converting from tail to side shifter at the same time. Side to side was easier on the '73, but did have to play around a little for the fore and aft adjustment. Worth the effort.
