Default Any ideas

I recently got my 914 4 cylinder. the guy I got it from drove it home put in staybil and was going to do a restore. he never got to that and I got it. he could not get it started again so I undertook this task.i have put fuel in it,and nothing... it turns over but will not start? So I checked the electic fuel pump" I guess I should say its a 73 and it has duel carbs rather than fuel injection" it is pumping fuel...so I checked the fuel filter ,it is receiving fuel and sending it out?So I checked lines and they look good,so I took a line right off carb and fuel is going there?and still nothing...so I got the spray in engine starter and sprayed in carbs at this point it turns almost runs then dies ..so what am I missing what can I look for? Any help would be great

If you're getting gas to the carbs, do the floats fill? If you manually "blip" the carbs, you should squirt fuel down the barrels and easily see it. Also, check fuel pressure, should be about 3 psi. Assume you have an appropriate fuel pump for carbs. Too high or low pressure not good...
At least that's a place to start- good luck!

Tried the "blip" the carbs with key on so fuel pump was running and nothing no fuel came out of jets? So I will try checking the floats tomorrow

You might want to take the carbs off and go completely through them. Depending on how long the car sat, you might also want to replace fuel lines and possibly even pull the tank out and make sure it is clean. As mentioned, fuel pressure should be checked as well.
Once you are satisfied the fuel system is up to par, I would then go through the ignition to ensure all is well there.
