911 Motor would be sweet and would keep it all in the family, but let's face it, the 914 is and always will be the orange haired stepchild. A 911 Motor in the bay come resale time might bring you more $$$, but it's also going to cost a lot more to get in there.
914 prices are going up and up. I really do not think that they are viewed as the "orange haired stepchild" as much as they were. Porsche fans go nuts when they see a good clean 914 now days. Again I would keep it all Porsche as much as possible. Just my 2 cents.

A 914 with a 3.2 Porsche engine and Carrera suspension is one I the most enjoyable things you can drive. Period. Perfect amount of power and torque for the handling.

I agree with Bob, I drove John Dunkle's 914-6 with flares, bigger brakes and a biffed up 3 liter and it was AWESOME!

+2. If you do it the right way you will have a car that will make you smile everytime you drive it.

You guys are missing the absolute best and one of the easier conversion for the 914!!

The 12A rotary motor! Still my dream build! You can find a lot of good used race 12A's for cheap (Spec-7's use them I believe). The 12A with a Kennedy adaptor fits perfecting on the stock engine bar btw's!

God you could pick up a well sorted 12A with a good down or side draft weber for 2-2500 bucks, get a t25 or t28 turbo, have the carb built to turbo specs (a bunch of really good shops out there do this). Depending on if the motor has been ported you could see anywhere from 300-450 hp, 300hp from a stock port to 450 for a good street, or J-port job

Actually a guy did it with his 914, with a 13b (later year motors less torque than the 12A, but more plentiful and cheaper to buy in stock form), and was snapping off 0-60 times in 5.5 seconds (all motor, stock ports, just header and carb) let me see if his website is still active. And I don't think it is, but its still to me the best conversion to do.... turbo, 8k redline, massive power, and tiny motor= win all day for me! Also those motors at 8k sound AMAZING!

911 Motors sound Amazing to me.. Keep it Porsche

My 2 cents..

I am sure you could stuff a faster motor in there that isn't Porsche, but I would have to keep it Porsche.

I would do a 3 liter with flairs and big brakes. Awesome car and a ton of fun to drive, but maybe I'm biased.

Watched your video. Insane/sweet install. Do you think a 928 32v motor possible?

I have a '72 914 with A/C and a 350hp fuel injected LS-1 motor. All done but the exterior paint. Very nice well done car. About to list it for sale soon.

Much cheaper to buy one done, than do it all your self.
The trick is finding one that has been well done.
