Default Matching # 914-6, Rusty & Cheap!!

SOLD, heading home to Germany

Porsche only built a total of 3,351 from 1969 to 1972, and many of those got bigger engines, crashed, raced, rusted completely away, flat out disappeared, so there is value in a matching # 914-6 even a rusty one.

Very rusty matching #s and all the "correct" 914-6 stuff is there..
Yes it is rough, check out the cost for a correct set of HEs, 914-6 Webers , 914-6 tranny & you are close to my price right there, this one even has all 5 matching Fuchs.... Course, the fact that it is a matching # car, with the Docs helps alot. $6,500. We have all seen Porsches in worse condition saved and there aren't very many 914-6 with matching numbers left and many see 914-6s as the next 356 Speeder in values..
Yea, she is a rough one but you can get replacement sheet-metal at Restoration Design.

And like many a resurected speedster, what you really get here is a VIN and a chance to spend lots of money restoring it GLWTS.

Seems like a lot of money for a VIN plate, but then I'm spending some serious money to restore a '73 2.0 because of its sentimental value...
Can't imagine it's worth that much as I wonder from the picture if that case is rebuildable, which it would need to be to have matching numbers, etc.

Well, again, how many matching number 914-6s are left?? And the Heat exchangers are very solid, plus those are the OEM carbs, and I'm sure you know, like the tranny, the carbs are unique than to the 914-6.
Not like I have never played with 914s either, with a 74 GT clone(with steel flares, 930 brakes & a twin plug 3.0 with 46 Webers) is over build but what I wanted, but not a chance in hell would I get .25 on the dollar if I ever wanted to sell it (but like you, sentimental value... ) and while looking for the 914-6 currently being restored, one thing was clear, matching numbered cars are much harder to find, worth more are not getting any easier to locate.. There are a few 914 race cars out there today that were much rougher than this and again, the factory isn't building any more. The engine has been stored indoors and turns freely, so there is no issues with that.. Even if someone didn't want to save the chassis, the value of the factory "Six" parts is there. Course, looks like it is going to Europe, so everything may be mute..

sure did, and funny thing is, right after I got the firm commitment, 3 others were all the sudden ready to pay the price, one called daily until the funds were confirmed..

Outstanding, I know were there are some rusty 914's sitting up north in NH. Guess I am going to have to see if there are any 6's there.
