2.7L 911 Engine for sale.
A customer of mine which upgraded to a bigger engine is selling his 2.7 out of his 911. He is asking $2,750OBO for the complete running engine.
I dont know much info on the engine other than he told me it runs fine. E-mail me and I can forward you his phone number.

I have no idea of whether that is a good price for that motor (personally I wouldn't want a 2.7), but I wanted to comment on what someone did with the same motor. About 10 years ago I was at one of the local porsche club shows and a guy was there with a VW bus with 2.7 911 motor in it! He gunned it leaving the show- same response as in a 911, except more pronounced due to the heavier weight of the bus vs 911....the clutch came out and not much acceleration, then all the sudden it came onto the cam and the whole bus leaned back on it's rear wheels and snapped up to redline! He said he was saving some money to put a 3.0 or 3.2 in there....

I had a 2.7 CIS engine in my 914/6 for some time and it was "adequate" but certainly more than a stock 2/0L. The problem is the mag case. At around 85k miles, everything self destructs; oil leaks everywhere, seals go, head to cylinder leaks, head studs pull, everything all at once. Cheap thrills for awhile. I tore it down and now have rebuilt it into a 2.7L MFI high compression engine with Solex cams which should energize the car a bit more. But it is still a mag case = worry, despite the inserts and all the remedial work. Oh well, still some thrills for awhile. Start with a 3.0 and rest easily at night.

I have a 2.7 in Huey and love it. We got it and it seemed that everything was done right, but needed just a small amount of TLC - new valve covers because they were all warped. I have no idea what cams are in it as we didn't tear it down all that much, but it seems to be working great.
Have weber IDS carbs on it and when I get the $$, may move to PMO though these seem to be working fine.
Is this engine that's for sale carbs or CIS? If carbs, its a great price, if not, its a decent price depending on how "good" it is.
