915 trans mid mount shifer kit??
I'm fitting a 915 transmission into a tubeframed car, but I'm mid mounting it. Does anyone make a conversion kit for the shifter for a 914? I could use this and modify it to my application.
Thanks

Talk to <a href="http://www.patrickmotorsports.com/915-6_mid_engine_trans_conversion.html" target="_blank">Patrick Motorsports</a>. They seem to have the conversion hardware you'll need.
You might also give <a href="http://www.renegadehybrids.com/kitcars.htm" target="_blank">Renegade Hybrids</a> a call and see if they have any solutions for you too.

Thanks Rouser,
Do you know anything about the Veliose (not sure of spelling) 915 conversion?
I spoke to Renegade and they spoke of it as the best conversion around.
Anyone?

George Vellios Co. 310 542 0806, fax 310 542 7626, 4145 W 163rd St, Lawndale, CA 90260. That was in 1992, at least. In the UK Barrie Martin uses this kit on the 904 replicas he builds down at Thruxton.

The best kit was actually made by Porsche for the 916. There were several of these sold after the factory gave up on the 916. Alan Johnson racing used to sell them and that is where I got mine many years ago. If you search around you may be able to find one of these. The Vellios kit is a copy and works ok but one I tried did not seem to shift as well as my factory kit. Also if you find a kit you will have to change the shifter to the later 915 type, get the one with the adjustable pivot screw not the early version with the roll pins for pivots. Install the factory SCRS Short shifter kit and the whole thing works great.

Hello
The Velios Kit is a straight copy from the factory 916 kit ( Yet some differences are existing ). Rumor said over 2000 kits where ordered for the first 916 MY and partially on stock when Porsche quit on it most from them where dumped with the tools at the manufactorers.

Thanks for the info guys,
I'll be rebuilding the 915 anyway so thats the ideal time to fit the kit.
I'll be getting in touch with Barrie Martin, I haven't spoken to him for years!
Does anyone use a Quaife LSD (Limisted Slip Diff) in their 915? mounted in a 914?
Thanks again.
