Overdrive (Movie)
Last night, I watched a rented movie entitled "Overdrive". It starred Steve Guttenberg and Robert Wagner.
Guttenberg plays a Porsche race car driver (with Wagner as his crew chief) who drives recklessly on the track after losing his wife and daughter in a car accident (while he was behind the wheel). More or less, he no longer cares if he lives or dies.
Anyway, the movie has a couple of Porsche-only race segments at Willow Springs. Surprisingly, the Porsches weren't only 911s... there were quite a few 914s on the track!! (Certainly more 914s than 944s or 928s).
I'm guessing that they got in touch with the local PCA or POC chapter and asked if they'd come out to "play" a little bit for the filming.
The movie is not all that great... it appears to be a very low budget movie... with some bad acting and a poor plot.
But if you want to see about 10 minutes total of Porsche (club) racing, with some 914s here and there, rent it sometime.
