Stiffer torsion bars/ springs
A few months ago I installed 22mm torsion bars and 185# springs. I think that the car drives well, but the 2 time trials that I've been to since, the instructor didn't drive my car, so I haven't had any feedback, and I don't have enough experience to sense if the car is a little imbalanced. Anyway, just pushing on the fenders, the front is very stiff, and the back is still a little soft. Anyone with some 914 racing experience have a suggestion about rear springs that match up well with the 22mm torsions? Thanks, Steve

Steve,
I used to drive a '71 914 1.7 with stock springs. The rear springs sagged so I lowered the front as far as the adjusters would go to match. Then I added a front adjustable antisway bar and Koni adjustable shocks set about medium. I was happy with this setup and picked up some trophies.

Hi Steve...
What do you have for an engine?
Yes - I'm running 22s in the front and 180 springs on coil-overs in the rear. Also have a 20mm anti-sway - along with the rest of the 911 front end..
I running with a 3.0 on the track..

Steve,
I have a modified 914-6 which used to have 22mm torsion bars, adjustable 19 mm front bar with 200 lbs rear springs with no rear bar. The rear springs were on an ajustable perch for ride height and corner weight adjustments. Once you have the car set up with your choice of springs, etc (Bilstiens are the best shocks for our use), you should get the car corner balanced with you in the car for optimum performance.

I forgot some facts, 2.3l 4 cyl w/ 10.5/1 compression, 38mm & 48mm valves, weber 44's, open exhaust, 19mm F swaybar, no R swaybar, kumho victoracers (225's and 205's), and 1.2 deg neg camber F, 1.8 deg neg camber R.
Lastly, Bilstein sports F & R, 911 F struts.
To corner balance and align, I'll have to put weight in the car (alot) to compensate for my absence because I will be doing the alignment myself as I am lucky enough to work at a shop with all the cool stuff like a computerized alignment rack and longacre scales.
Thanks for all of the replies, Guys.
