Brake proportioning valve

Brake proportioning valve
I replaced the pads a short time ago. Brakes feel fine and the pedal is firm. But I've noticed a clicking sound when I apply the brakes. It sounds like it's coming from beneath the floor -- about where I think the valve is. Is this business as usual? Thanks in advance - Bill

bfulton,
The rear brake pressure limiter gives a click as it actuates. You can feel it with your hand on it. I cannot recall (sold my 914 in 1986) if this is felt or heard inside the car.
Good luck!

Bill,
The bias valve is on the bottom of the firewall, drivers side. I have owned 914s for 20 years and I have never heard one click from inside the car.I assume your brakes are working properly. The main problem of spongy pedals in 914s is that air gets trapped in the bias valve and is hard to remove without adequate pressure bleeding and /or opening up the valve by tightening the adjustment screw as was discussed in earlier messages.
