Cleaning up the engine bay
Cleaning the tar, dirt and sound deadener off the sheet metal of the engine bay has got to be the worst job I had done on the 912.
I have tried heat, solvents, chisels, scrapers, steel wool you name it. So far my best results have been from using Purple Power degreaser then wiping down with rags to get as much of the sticky tar and grease off then using a wire wheel on a small air die grinder.
Other then blasting with some type of media, which I wont do in my garage any one come up with something better?

You are doing it right... wire wheel, scraper tool, and a strong degreaser... and elbow grease... keep at it. It is looking great.
And while you are in there. Remove the lower lid lock and remove all that paint from it!!
It does not need to be shiny... just free from paint.

I have pulled the latch off and blasted with glass beads. I have the copy cad kit from Caswell plating. http://www.caswellplating.com/electr...ting-kits.html
I am going to experiment with doing the cad plating on some of the parts.
