Thinking about buying a 912
Hello all
I became a member on here hoping to get some advice regarding buying a 912.
I am looking to get a summer/weekend funtoy and have always loved Porches and the 912 is within my budget.
The cars i have looked at are all in nice condition and drives great, the only thing I would want to do with it is lower it a little, put on some nice wheels and just enjoy drivning it.
My dilemma is that I am by no means a mechanic, I only have a very basic knowledge of engines etc. So is it totally unrealistic to buy a good 912 and just enjoy driving it or will I be in over my head with things always needed to be repaired/adjusted?
The car will probably only be driven about 1.000km. A year.
Thank you all and sorry for the bad english, I am from Denmark

My 69 never breaks down. Parts are expensive but the actual repairs are usually fairly easy to do for an average mechanically inclined person plus the 912registry bbs, here and other places are full of answers to all questions. Lowering is actually pretty easy also. Just buy one that conforms to how much you want to pay and that will depend on how sorted of a car you want buy. A well sorted car mechanically is first. Cosmetics can be very easy to performed by yourself. If you can locate and afford 25k you'll be dialed in on both fronts, mechanically and cosmetically, IMHO.

We have a 69/ 912 and find it to be a fun car to own and drive. Sorting out a few things as we go along, but this is the first year and have it just about "dialed in". Great cars for driving, doubt you will regret finding one.

EXAMPLE: Friday I left my home at 8AM, drove 300 miles to Mammoth Lakes and returned Sunday with absolutely NO issues what so ever. 600 miles on 26 gallons of Supreme gas creating 23MPG and the trip there was all up hill so my foot was heavy. The drive home was a cruz.
