I've been looking for a 912 for a while now and stumbled upon a deal I couldn't turn down. The car wS fully restored. 42000 miles. Original paint was yellow, which I would rather of it been kept to, and a new 1600cc crate motor mated to a 5 speed was used instead of the oem drivetrain. I purchased it for 8750. I feel like I got a hell of a deal in today's market with these cars. My goal is to turn it into a 911r now.
Here's some pictures of it.

Oh I will be
This is my first air cooled car so I'm a little excited to get started on this thing!
The one thing I'm trying to decide on is the engine I want to use. I'm looking for 210-230 hp and 7-10k rev. Any engine configurations suggested? Is really like to stay under a 3.0 bc I want to stay carbd but I'm not sure that's possible. I don't mind if the engine has to highly modified either.
Btw I wanted to know if anyone feels that I got a really good deal on this or it was just a average price.

OK, you asked. That's not a full restoration. Wrong bumpers, 911S air dam is incorrect, wrong deck lid, no body rubber between bumper to body panels and without the correct type of motor. The interior picture is blurred but it looks like maybe some extra gauges were installed. Any rust? Ohio means there probably is somewhere. Sounds like your looking to build a hot rod. Good starting point. The original-ites will say bad deal. A killer deal, no. A fair price, yes if there is not a lot of rust. If a hot rod is what your plan is just the motor fabrication will cost as much as the car unless you have some great connections. Start with readjusting the stance. It's too high like it is. I saw you on the ESR looking for parts so dive in head first and don't look back. I'm looking to put a 2.4/2.7 in mine when I can afford to.

No rust at all. I bought it from some retiring millionaire in Wilson, nc. He's liquidating his whole collection of cars. The engine you've mentioned is what I was leaning towards as well. What is the max power you can take those engines to on modifications?

Go with a 2.4 case, decide if you want to put on larger pistons, lighten & fettle with the internals, grab a good cam spec, bring on the carbs & headers & rev that dude to 8000.
Ahhh youth. I miss it.

I really like the 2.4 liter as well. Built one up to a 2.8 once, and while it was great, the 2.4 liter as designed is still a wonder-engine.

That sounds like the ticket. I'll be going with the 2.4 as well when I can afford one. Stay tuned in to the FS sites cause when their offered they get sucked up fast.
