Post 912E Value?

What are 912E's going for these days? How about one with 130k miles, a rebuild approx 10k ago with a webcam camshaft and dual webber carbs. Interior in cork color, and is a 8 out of 10 (minor cracks on driver's seat). Oh and sport seats to boot, with 911 sways and KYB struts. Bursch exhaust...
Any thoughts?

hmmm.. not really sure. as much as the 912E's are the least mentioned and least appreciated 912, or even porsche for that matter, i really like em. they have that sc body, and although they have less power than the regular 912, they can out handle one anyday. i know i wouldnt mind having one.

dual webbers?... i guess its not an E any more is it? that might effect its value to be honest. if it comes with the original fule iunjection stuff, it shouldnt effect price.

the place to go for your question is http://bbs912.org/

also check out the 912 registry http://912registry.org/

they have a texas regional board, so i immagine you would want to deffinitly post there. the lone start 912ers are a great group, and a few of em have E's so they can help you out too.

if you need a fast answer and alot of opinions, go to the bay area 912 board, as the majority of owners are from northern cal.

i really wish i could be more help, but i dont know much about the pricing of E's, as although they are very similar to 912's, they are a completely different beast and at least 6 or 7 years newer. the newer technology many play a big role.

Awesome. Its my brother's car, I am borrowing it today as he needed my 944 AC for a job interview. I was curious what its value is compared to my 944S.

I've driven a few 912's, his is much more peppy then they seemed to be. With the 'hot' webcam camshaft, its a beast. Shakes at idle. I love the car personally.

He had the original fuel injection system replaced with the Webbers when it was rebuilt because his throttle boot split, and we could not find a replacement anywhere. The motor is great looking now, the tin and various parts of the motor are detailed in gold and dark green powder-coat. It is the car in the garage on my avatar.

Opinions on 912E prices seems to be varied. Have a customer putting up a 76 with 28,000 miles, all original in great shape and really didn't know where to start...Lots of different opinions.

Thumbs up

Robert,

Harry is correct, you've removed the EFI therefore you've probably lost some value. I know of a Silver one, great paint, complete w/o Thermal Reactors, selling for $7k...one problem though. He installed a 2.0 914 motor with its EFI set-up including the 914 air intake assy (probably wont sell at that price).

On these cars, originality is the key. Over the years, most have had their Thermal Reactors removed, original sports muffler, heat exchangers, rain tray, and factory a/c are a few unique 923/912E items. The Bursch is the defacto POS muffler that everyone uses. I tossed mine as it died with my higher compression motor. Scored an OE muffler...

Laura,

I have heard of a yellow "E" with mileage in the low 20's, selling for $22k.
Last year I was offered $15k firm shortly after my motor was rebuilt.
Nice "E" routinely sell for $8-12k, however you can usually find some of the less popular color cars for $4,500-6,500 sans some of the OE (mentioned above).

Bob
