930 deck struts

930 deck struts
Greetings:
I've owned a 911 Targa since 1987........great car.
I'm going top replace the deck lid struts on a friend's 1988 930 Turbo Cab slantnose (9K miles). I already replaced the hood shocks.......45 minutes of knuckle abrasions. The 930's deck lid has the 2 struts.
My question is 3 of the 4 attachment points are secured with pins and clips. The rear passenger side attachment strut is secured with a bolt/nut. He is the original owner and doesn't recall the struts ever being replaced. Is this the original way the factory installed the struts???
Second question........any trick replacing those struts on the cramped 930 engine compartment??? Does one remove air cleaner/intercooler/etc???
Thank you in advance,
Mike

Thank you for your reply.........but I'm even more confused. My 911 has ALL clevis pins and clips......which I know are original. My friend's 930 has 3 clevis and 1 bolt. Your 930 had 4 bolts.
Anyone care to clarify the situation???
Thank you in advance

Even though Porsche PET (for a 1988 Turbo) calls the 999-166-043-02 a "bolt", it is actually more like a clevis pin. The securing "lock", part number N-012-645-2, is a spring clip that secures the "bolt". There are two of these "bolts" and Locks" per shock. Also, on the top of the Front hood shock, a spacer is used, 911-511-332-00. The same spacer is used on the hinge end of the rear hood shock. The front hood has two hood shocks, 911-511-331-01. And the 930 tail (and M491 cars) require 2 gas shocks, 911-512-331-02.

Removing air shocks on Cayenne is totally doable as diy.
I had to remo e both to replace the upper bushibgs (yhat get torn up with age, start clunking).
I believe I have a diy on vouple forums showi g process and pics. If i find, i will add link. If u do search for upper mount bushing you should find it too.
