I made the guy a fair offer, he's a typical low end used car salesman, zero flexability on price, he can keep it. Car is heavily modded, grey market, unknown true miles, zero paperwork, no federalization records, respray, motor not as fresh as stated, some bs story about losing records at airport.....
It has potential as a nice hobby car, I'd be a player in a the low 50s.

I agree with TT. Somewhere in the mid 50s. No paperwork is no good for the future of this car and I bet it would "need" $30k easy to get it properly sorted. I'd pay an extra $1k for the Russian babe if she come with the sale LOL.

So the consensus is a clean Turbo with an aftermarket valance, wheels and a stripe is worth the same as half the SC's for sale? The lack of paperwork sucks. But he's not asking $125K either. I think it's priced accordingly for a modified driver. Maybe $5-8k less would be ideal.

Unknown history, ? actual miles, lack of federalization paperwork (not able to license in some states) are big red flags on a grey market car.
You have to assume it has >200k miles needs everything given lack of any documentation, hence my offer....remember this is a grey market car, meaning they should always be approached with extreme caution.

TT, given the age is past 30 years, I don't think the federalization paperwork makes a difference anymore and can be registered in any state. Agree w/ all your other points!

Most states you're probably correct, (in2012 I had to produce fed papers in nys on a 83 930) but unless you know the details of the process you just don't know. As you know part of the fed process includes a mph speedo and km/miles at that time, unless you know that data you must assume the worst case. I think it's a decent project car at the right price. Alternatively, 77k you can buy that nice black one in the fs with all paperwork since new, hence low 50s at the most on this one.

Looks like it sold for $70k?
It was listed as having a clear title. That's all one needs in NYS to get it titled here, and of course a bill of sale. That's all I ever needed to title my gray market car.
