For the final chapter from me on this, the car just left on a big truck, headed to the new owner on the east coast. It will be in the good hands of someone who has a vision for this car and wants to make it his own.

wow, this is SO WEIRD for me to read this right now. I LITERALLY woke up this morning thinking about this car. Not so much the car itself, but Garrick & the story. But somehow your earlier posted pictures were anchored in my mind,.... freaky.
Thanks for posting. Hope to see it at a East Coast event soon!!

Thanks Rob,
Was more or less curious if it would be nearby.. glad to hear it found a good home and will hopefully be back on the road soon.

Any updates on the car? It's been a year yesterday, March 19, since we lost our friend and fellow enthusiast, Garrick.

I've been in touch with the new owner. He's in the process of a complete and proper redo of the interior at the moment. I'm sure this car will be really nice when it's done.

I thought some of you on here may want to see and hear an update on this car. I bought the car from the buyer who Rob sold it to in NY. He and I met through a fellow Porsche enthusiast and mechanic. Not much had been done to the car other than some basic maintenance and getting it running. I started work on the car right away and recently got it back from paint and reassembly
. Ive yet to delve into sorting the car for drivability but Im working on it. Finding the right EFI tuner who feels comfortable with DTA is not easy. The car now has a period correct RUF front valance, RUF Speedline wheels, a fully redone interior in the factory original color of cork, a 930 S wheel, and a Fabspeed dual exhaust. Ive repainted it in the factory PTS color of Timor Braun which is a 1977 Audi palate color which was also used on some VWs of that era. My plan is to continue the full restoration but keep the amazing work done that was done by all the amazing people involved in getting it to this point. I have all of Garricks notes, receipts, posts etc and am continuing to add to the books. I look forward to continuing this journey and seeing may of you at local events next spring...

rg588911,
I'm just catching up with this thread. Wow, so Garrick's car is now yours! I was surprised to hear it changed hands, but I'm excited that you have it and are on the path to putting it on the road. It looks beautiful in the photos. Best of luck with it. I'm going to send you a PM so we can talk off line when you have a chance.

Wow, it’s been a very long time since I’ve been on Rennlist, and I’m saddened to hear of Garrick’s passing long ago. I remember him as such nice gentleman. We spoke a lot about his build, and I’m sorry that he never got to see it through...RIP
