On a random drive in my 944 I found a neglected 1977 930 sitting at an abandoned house. VIN number confirms its a a legit US spec 930. Its not in the greatest condition but looks to be pretty much complete.
Seeing its on abandoned property, I left a note on one of the functional looking cars there hoping whoever mows the lawn sees it.
If I do get a response and he wants to sell, what would the car be worth, dont want to overpay but also wouldnt want to insult the guy.

To bring that car back to its glory...a full restoration(if you're farming out the work) is going to cost you anywhere from $75k-110(or more). Depending on where you live..as some places are more cost efficient than others. If you can get the car for around $40-55k than it would make some sense...a bit less would be even better.

You would need upwards of $150k on the stash to restore it.
The rust has to bad on the underside and the engine is most likely seized.

Worth while however.

$3000 to take it off his hands. And that's just for parts that you can salvage. But who knows what actually lurks beneath all the filth and rust?

I wouldn't give out the VIN and I'd start the conversation at $2500 as a 'fun project'. If its worth $20k then maybe its worth more will be the owner's thinking. Only a small group of people look at that car and think it has any value over a rusted out base model 911. Sorry to be ruthless.

That car has been in the same place, same condition for years.. he doesn't want to sell it, and you're lucky you didn't catch a round or two. Spooky place, strange folk... Dahmer comes to mind.

A few years you say, I've lived in my house for 18 years and I've seen that car sitting in that same spot the entire time. I've wondered how long before that it was parked there. It literally is within a 5 min car ride from my house. To be honest, I can't believe you actually walked up to the house and took those pictures.

The car is toast given it's long lonnnggg history of just sitting there. As I said before, 3 grand, that's what I would offer. Buy it, then open your wallet for another grand with multiple zeros to bring her back to life.
